Junior Innovation Analyst (Lisbon)

Data transparency has the power to accelerate entrepreneurship. While Dealroom is best known for sharing startup data and discovering industry trends – e.g., to help venture capital firms spot the next Spotify tree in the startup forest – helping foster tech ecosystems is also part of our mission.

Dealroom.co is looking for a curious and ambitious innovation analyst to join our Intelligence Unit (IU). As Dealroom’s research unit, the IU is on a mission to derive original insights out of Dealroom data. In recent years, Dealroom has become a well-recognised company in the startup ecosystem globally, with a reputation for high-quality content & data for Venture Capital firms, Corporates, and Governments. Insights and content you will help put together are frequently featured in The Economist, Financial Times, The New York Times, and other leading titles.

What can you expect from this opportunity?

On a daily basis, you can expect to work on diverse projects pertaining to startups, Venture Capital, and the broader ecosystem including their enablers (governments, universities and service providers).

There is no typical day at Dealroom but here are some of the tasks and activities you can expect:

• Leverage Dealroom data to create compelling insights on trends within startup and venture capital ecosystems, and emerging innovation sectors;

• Analyze, discover and showcase emerging trends for the creation of meaningful, influential industry reports, guides and digital content;

• Lead research projects end to end - from ideation and client management, to data analysis and storytelling -, to enable investors and corporates to make better data-driven decisions;

• Innovate and improve, work across departments and come up with new ideas to delight our customers.

In this role, you will become an integral part of our Intelligence Unit. Working with and learning from our senior analysts and team leads, you can expect careful and personalized mentoring from industry experts. As an innovation analyst we expect you to grow rapidly into a key and valued member of the team, leading your own projects and supporting on team wide initiatives, taking active part in cross-functional projects, and expanding your network with partners externally. You will also work closely with our Sales, Data, Marketing and Product teams in Amsterdam, and with our teams in Lisbon, and our remote colleagues.

Who is this role ideal for?

• 1-3 years of work experience in delivering research and/or experience related to the venture capital ecosystem. A broad interest plus passion for innovation, technology trends, startups, venture capital markets and impact;

• EU/EEA nationals, with the right to work in Portugal. Sponsorship is not offered for this position.

• You are currently based in Portugal, preferably in or close to Lisbon, or you are planning to (independently) relocate to Portugal. Relocation support is not offered for this position.

• You should demonstrate genuine interest in technology, innovation, startups, and venture capital markets. This includes getting to know the Dealroom database inside-out and staying up-to-date on industry news and trends to truly understand the potential of our Data, in order to turn it into valuable insights for our users, partners and prospects.

• You should be eager to learn in a great team and rapidly growing business, but you also thrive when working independently.
  

What you will need to succeed

• A strong attention to details: identifying patterns and solving puzzles are your strength

• A broad interest: you are generally curious, especially for all-things innovation, technology trends, startups, venture capital markets and impact. While prior research on and/or experience related to the venture capital ecosystem, startups and innovation is preferred; we value experience in tech in general, especially around data and software products.
