Data Quality Reviewer

Portugal, Lisboa, LisboaIntelligence

Job description

Data Quality Reviewer

Dealroom.co is looking for a sharp and meticulous Data Quality Reviewer living in the Lisbon area to join us. We are looking for new colleagues to support Dealrooms Data and Intelligence Teams. Our Data Quality Reviewers deliver high-quality data collection and curation, working closely with our vertical and geographical analysts as well as data engineers. In recent years, Dealroom has become a well-recognised company in the startup ecosystem, with a reputation for high-quality content & data for Venture Capital firms, Corporates, and Governments. Additionally, our insights and content frequently make headlines at The Economist, Financial Times, The New York Times, and other leading titles.

You will be instrumental in speeding up and enhancing our data collection and data cleaning processes. You will work closely with the Data quality squad, the Intelligence Team and Data team. By processing ad-hoc data requests based on large sets of data, you'll help the full team reach their targets and directly contribute to increasing our customers’ satisfaction. Working with analysts from our Intelligence Unit, you can expect careful mentoring combined with exposure to a wide variety of requests pertaining to startup ecosystems (startups and their founders) and their enablers (Investors, Universities and service providers). Our AI engineers will also be eager to involve you in a variety of projects leading up to high-quality automation. This role is mainly working behind the scenes, but nevertheless with great internal and external impact.

There are many reasons why Dealroom is a great place to work for, but here are some:

  • In the right spot, at the right time. Startup ecosystems are soaring globally. This is a great opportunity and role to be active in a highly dynamic market, right in the middle of the tech ecosystem.

  • You will engage directly with the world’s key players in the ecosystem while being at the very forefront of innovation.

  • 30+ Nationalities, and counting. We’re a team of 100 people across 30 different nationalities!

What you will be doing

Under the joint supervision of the Data and Intelligence Teams and in close collaboration with Ecosystems, the Data Quality Reviewer will be responsible for:

  • Auditing large sets of incomplete data with a particular focus on:
    • The completeness and accuracy of pre-collected data points and their interpretation, so as to fit our definitions, taxonomy and categorisation.

    • The identification of patterns across large quantities of information, leading up to investigating the origins of suspected errors, including by cross-checking data against third party sources, and gathering context around incidents by means of detective-like tracing of original sources.

    • Reducing the occurrence of “obvious” faulty profiles: duplicates, empty profiles, wrong data points and faulty entity types.

  • Handling ad-hoc data requests and ensure quality and timely delivery
    • Auditing incoming data sources in various forms, supervising data entry and performing quality checks upon delivery, in view of improving both their completeness and accuracy.

    • Working to reduce the handling time from request to delivery, including by playing an active role in the (re-)definition of our processes and methods where needed.

What we can offer you

  • Freedom and responsibility to present your own ideas, to turn them into projects and take ownership of their development.

  • Positive, empathic and outward-focused colleagues, and customers working at the forefront of innovation and technology.

  • Perks designed to set you up for success in a new reality:
    • Apple or Windows laptop

    • Hybrid work is encouraged: you'll be given access to a (shared) office space, and home office setup.

Job requirements

What you need

  • High school diploma/GED and a Bachelor's degree is a plus.

  • Proficiency in English is a must. Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.

  • 1+ year of Data Quality experience is a plus.

  • Great attention to detail. You like puzzles, identifying patterns and solving problems.

  • Knowledge of where and how to obtain relevant information. You are not afraid to ask for guidance and know how to integrate feedback into your work.

  • Interest in technology, startups and venture capital markets.

  • Comfortable with working in a hybrid format and asynchronous teams.

  • You thrive in a multicultural and fast-growing scale-up work environment.

  • Readiness to improve every aspect of Dealroom and yourself.
